Learn more about Amy Tang-Cheung, Production Planning Manager, and her experience as part of the Operations team.
Q. Can you tell us a little about your role at PDI?
Tang-Cheung: My official title is Production Planning Manager. However, I’ve been at PDI for many years so I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of production – from beginning to end. I work on planning for both raw materials and finished goods, I help with new product development such as creating sample materials and line trials, I assist with final product commercialization involving documentation and sign-off to ensure everything is in place before scheduling production. I also often work on initiatives for cost savings for PDI, such as determining and eliminating any redundancies in work flow and ensuring product components are used efficiently to avoid any waste.
Q. What does “Be the Difference” mean to you?
Tang-Cheung: Because PDI is family owned, you can really feel it when your contributions count. Be The Difference means you have the autonomy and skills to impact not only your department’s success but others that you support.
Q. Are there any unique / exciting projects you have been able to work on while at PDI?
Tang-Cheung: A recent project I was involved in was the rework the interventional care product processes. I had the opportunity to work cross-functionally with many different departments as we all collaborated to successfully reach our deadline.
Q. What is your favorite memory from working at PDI?
Tang-Cheung: I can’t think of a single favorite memory but overall my best memories are related to the thoughtfulness of the people I work with. They understand how I operate and do my job and they work to do whatever possible to make my day easier. I have a go-to person in every department at PDI who I can rely on.
Q. Do you have any interesting hobbies or fun facts you could share? (personal or work related)
Tang-Cheung: Like most people, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also like to read and try new recipes.
Q. How long have you been with PDI and why have you decided to stay with the company?
Tang-Cheung: I’ve been with PDI for 20 years now. I’ve stayed with the company this long because of the people I work with. I’ve had great bosses and my colleagues are truly my work family.
Q. How has the company evolved since you joined?
Tang-Cheung: Having been with this company for so long, I feel like I’ve gotten to see PDI grow up. We started out small and unassuming and have evolved into a competitive heavyweight in the infection prevention market. I see it every day in production as the customer orders come in for the leading product in disinfecting wipes.
