At any given time, about 30 percent of the adult population is nasally colonized, according to a study from the Journal of Clinical Microbiology.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Profend<\/strong>\u00a0Nasal Decolonization Kit uses a unique \u201csnap and swab\u201d design that simplifies the decolonization process, while offering convenience for clinicians and supporting patient comfort. Clinician-applied for assured treatment compliance, the swabstick\u2019s dry-handle design minimizes mess during application, while the small nasal swab offers easy application and enhanced comfort for patients. Treatment time is a quick 60 seconds \u2013 up to two-and-a-half times faster than other nasal decolonization products on the market. Additionally,\u00a0<strong>Profend\u00a0<\/strong>uses PVP-iodine, a broad-spectrum antiseptic proven effective against\u00a0<em>S. aureus<\/em>\u00a0and MRSA with no known pathogen resistance, as demonstrated by Houang et al. in the Journal of Clinical Pathology, thereby supporting antibiotic stewardship. In a study of healthy volunteers,\u00a0<strong>Profend<\/strong>\u00a0nasal swabsticks reduced\u00a0<em>S. aureus<\/em>\u00a0by 99.7% at one hour and 99.9% at 12 hours, according to a PDI\u00a0<em>in vivo\u00a0<\/em>clinical research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospital acquired and surgical site infections are an increasingly complex and dynamic threat to the health of patients,\u201d said Elise Tordella, Vice President, Marketing, PDI Healthcare. \u201cOur response to this evolving hazard, the\u00a0<strong>Profend<\/strong>\u00a0Nasal Decolonization Kit, has been met with a positive clinical response as 90 percent of surveyed clinicians expressed a preference for it over other nasal PVP-iodine products.
