“PDI, a leader in infection prevention products and solutions, announced the launch of its\u00a0Profend\u00a0Nasal Decolonization Kit, the first in a suite of\u00a0Profend\u00a0products designed to help prevent surgical site infections (SSIs) and other hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Profend\u00a0nasal swabsticks are pre-saturated with 10 percent Povidone-iodine to deliver a fast time to full efficacy against a leading risk factor for SSIs,\u00a0S. aureus\u00a0and methicillin-resistant\u00a0S. aureus\u00a0(MRSA) in patient\u2019s noses, without the risk of antibiotic resistance. At any given time, about 30 percent of the adult population is nasally colonized, according to a study from the Journal of Clinical Microbiology.<\/em><\/p>\n
