PDI Receives EPA Approval of Candida Auris Claim on its Market Leading Super Sani-Cloth® Wipes
PDI, a global leader in infection prevention products and solutions, today announced that Super Sani-Cloth wipes, the number one disinfecting wipes in healthcare1, received approval for efficacy against a new clinically relevant pathogenic fungi, Candida auris (C. auris), from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
C. aurisis is an emerging global health threat that can be transmitted and cause outbreaks in healthcare settings.2,3C. auris can colonize patients for many months and persist on surfaces in the healthcare environment for at least 14 days.4,5 Bloodstream and other types of invasive infections caused by C. auris result in 1 in 3 patients dying within a month of diagnosis.3 The CDC recommends use of an EPA–registered hospital-grade disinfectant effective against C. auris6, such as Super Sani-Cloth wipes.
With the addition of C. auris, Super Sani-Cloth wipes are effective against 32 organisms in 2 minutes. It is a bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, and tuberculocidal disinfectant. The fast contact time allows for a quick room turnover, making it ideal for daily use in fast-paced environments that require short contact times and broad coverage of microorganisms. Super Sani-Cloth wipes joins the Sani-Prime® disinfectants and Sani-HyPerCide® disinfectants as PDI’s leading Environment of Care products with proven efficacy against C. auris.
