Associate Spotlight – Cristian Leiva
Learn more about Cristian Leiva, Production Supervisor, and his experiences as part of the Operations team.
Q. Can you tell us a little about your role at PDI?
Leiva: As a supervisor I oversee various aspects of the production floor – from staffing, scheduling, training, solving problems and collaborating with other departments.
Q. What new skills have you learned while working at PDI? How have you developed personally and professionally?
Leiva: PDI has really helped me develop my people skills. I feel I’ve become a better listener, which helps me understand my team’s needs in a more efficient way. Also, by working here I have a better understanding of how production lines flow, and waste reduction.
Q. What impact do you feel your function has had on the industry, particularly during COVID?
Leiva: I truly believe operations had a high impact during COVID. We have been working continuously since the pandemic started because we believe the work we do is important. People need our products now more than ever and we want to make sure it is available for them.
Q. What is your favorite memory from working at PDI?
Leiva: One of my favorite memories is the first time I attended the company’s “Family Day”. I was new to the company and everyone welcomed me with open arms. Seeing all the employees and their families together made recognize that the company places an emphasis on the importance of family.
Q. Do you have any interesting hobbies or fun facts you could share? (personal or work related)
Leiva: I am a music junkie. I love listening to music all the time. I do not discriminate genres, from Latin electrónica to metal to French hip-hop. I’m always discovering something new.
Q. How long have you been with PDI and why have you decided to stay with the company?
Leiva: I’ve been with the company for 5 years. I truly believe the work we do is important. We are improving people’s lives.
Q. How has the company evolved since you joined?
Leiva: One of the main changes I’ve seen is the company’s focus on looking for ways to improve our processes and reduce waste.
