Associate Spotlight – Davie De La Cruz-Roman

Q. Can you tell us a little about your role at PDI?
De La Cruz-Roman: I am the Supervisor of the Building Services Team. In this role, I am responsible for the overall cleaning, sanitization, general maintenance, and waste flow for the 5 northeastern PDI and NicePak properties. I oversee outside vendors, the Porter staff, as well as oversight responsibilities with the Building Services Techs.
Q. What does “Be the Difference” mean to you?
De La Cruz-Roman: For me, it is the passion that you create internally – that what is done is never minimal and it has an impact beyond the task at hand. We are part of a great company and our efforts help save lives by keeping people and places germ free. Aside from my family, this is why I wake up happy every day and I enjoy it!
Q. What has been your favorite project / program that you have been able to work on while at PDI?
De La Cruz-Roman: When I started working at PDI, I quickly learned that I am involved with things that can impact the health and environment of our associates, while also impacting business with external agencies / organizations, including the FDA, OSHA, ISO, etc. For me, everything I am involved in is my “favorite project” because the effort I contribute supports PDI’s continuous growth.
Q. Do you have any interesting hobbies or fun facts you could share?
De La Cruz-Roman: I was raised in the Caribbean. I lived in an area where fishing was prominent. I developed a passion for it and I enjoy it. My hobby allows me to share my experience and spend my time off with my family and friends.
Q. How long have you been with PDI and why have you decided to stay with the company?
De La Cruz-Roman: I have been part of the PDI Family for 12 years. I have been here for so long because I had the opportunity to grow my career alongside PDI’s growth and expansion. I started as a Porter in the warehouse. My career growth has been considerable from Porter to Warehouse Operator, to Warehouse Lead, to Facility Tech, to Facility Lead, and to Facility Supervisor. PDI has given me the opportunity to create a Porter team and share my knowledge and experience, where I can be an example of what hard work and dedication can lead to. It also reminds me every day not to forget where I came from and to treat everyone the way I want to be treated.
Q. How has the company evolved since you joined?
De La Cruz-Roman: PDI has always been marching forward and evolving. I have seen notable changes over time with new locations, new products, new demands, and new personnel – all of the changes demonstrate a focus on the well-being of employees and creating more opportunities for success.
